The Imperfectionists is an absolutely delightful breath of fresh air, for lack of a better term, in today’s era of contemporary fiction.  For anybody who has been connected to journalism at all, whether through study, practice or appreciation, it is a must read, and for lovers of vignettes and short stories, the character development is like a shot of espresso: quick, dark yet utterly penetrating.  I highly recommend it.
